Republican Texas senator Ted Cruz was in Las Cruces Monday night to endorse incumbent congresswoman Yvette Herrell.

They both spoke at the Take-Back America rally that took place at the Farm and Ranch State Museum.

Congresswoman Yvette Herrell started off the night by saying that they have "35 days to fire Nancy Pelosi."

"We are going to take that gavel right out of her hand," said Herrell.

While on stage she also talked about New Mexico's natural resources.

"We can develop it, we can produce it better and easier and more affordably than anywhere in the world," said Herrell.

She also took that time to welcome Texas Senator Ted Cruz to the stage.

He addressed many topics tonight. One of the topics was immigration.

"Joe Biden made a political decision to open up our borders. If you look at the last year of Trump's presidency we had the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years. We were achieving incredible success. The very first day in office Joe Biden made 3 political decisions that caused this crisis," said Senator Ted Cruz.

KFOX14 asked Cruz who America is being taken from.

“Radical democrats who embraced socialism, who embrace out-of-control spending who spend $14 trillion in two years. Inflation is skyrocketing," said Cruz.

During the rally, Cruz focused on talking about what he is calling "America in crisis" and "revival."

Cruz criticized the Biden administration on their response to immigration, inflation and other topics.

Cruz said this is the second time he endorses Herrell.

One of the topics Herrell spoke about was abortion.

“I'm unashamedly pro-life. I have always been pro-life and now it's about every woman having access to healthcare but standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves," said Herrell.

Herrell is being challenged for her seat by Democrat Gabe Vasquez.

Vasquez sent the following statement:

Ted Cruz and Yvette Herrell are too extreme for New Mexico. Both have abandoned their constituents and out party politics ahead of the people they represent.
