Austin ISD is looking into ways to make living in the city more affordable for teachers and staff.

Jeremy Striffler, director of real estate for the district, said they are considering building affordable housing units on the Rosedale School campus and the Anita Ferrales Coy Facility site.

“The former Rosedale School campus is currently vacant,” Striffler said. “The Coy site is home to our Alternative Learning Center but sits on almost 20 acres, so we are exploring how we can better utilize the site with a mix of housing along with a facility for the ALC.”

The district posted renderings of what the sites could look like and is now seeking community input.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 28 at the Anita Ferrales Coy Facility.
