The freshman principal at the Williamsport Area High School was arrested Tuesday on over 30 felony charges after an alleged long-term sexual relationship with a male student.

State Police say 34-year-old Roger Weaver Freed was charged with 30 counts of indecent sexual contact with a student, one count of sexual assault, one count of aggravated indecent assault, one count of corrupting the morals of a minor, and three misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Officials say the sexual relationship started when the boy was in middle school in 2015 and ended when he was in college in April 2022.

The student told investigators that he approached Freed after noticing how other students confided in him and, after leaning on him for emotional support, stated that he trusted him 'like an older brother.'

The student explained to police that Freed volunteered to drive him to various locations in his car for one-on-one conversations, claiming they were 'bros' and could talk about anything. The affidavit states that the student said that he and Freed became very close to the point that they were texting, calling each other, and FaceTiming.

These one-on-one conversations eventually became sexual in nature, according to the affidavit. Reports state that Freed 'stressed the importance of not telling a soul' and that it was 'OK for bros to please each other.'

After the first alleged sexual encounter, police say the two continued to engage in sexual acts four to five times a week for two years.

The student further told officials that the two smoked cigars and drank red wine together at a hotel out of town before engaging in sex acts.

Following Freed's arraignment, he was released on $175,000 intense supervised bail in which he will be required to wear an ankle monitor at all times. He is also prohibited from having any contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with any minors.
