Belle alderman resigns

BELLE — During the June 14 Belle aldermen meeting, Ward 2 Alderman Sundi Jo Graham tendered her resignation after reading it aloud to those in attendance.

“Effective June 15, 2022, I will resign my position as alderwoman for the city of Belle. It has been an honor to serve my community in this capacity. Though I didn’t do everything perfectly, I worked hard to represent the citizens of Belle with integrity,” Graham began.

Her resignation letter stated that she believed in the future of Belle and urged the board to hire a city administrator. During her resignation, she also indicated whom she thought the board should choose as her replacement.

Graham said, “As I vacate this seat, it is my recommendation to the council, the mayor,  and this community that Kayla Bray fill this seat. First of all, I believe she has the integrity needed to sit in this position. Secondly, she is not afraid to ask questions and there are many questions that need to be asked and answered in this seat. Thirdly, she will be a great asset to maintaining the budget. And lastly, she is not a ‘yes’ person. She is a person who desires to see the right things happen.”
