The Sulphur Springs School Board met Monday, May 9 and considered many items.

One of the top matters they dealt with was the large number of changes in the staff.

Sulphur Springs had more than 30 resignations.

Resignations included-Haley Papez, a LSSP employee at Special Services; in administration, Tabitha Barker, purchasing coordinator.

Five resignations were received from Barbara Bush Primary, they include Monica Armstrong, Grade 1, Self-contained; Angel McCoy, Kinder self-contained; Aleesa Morris, Grade 3 teacher; Jessica Takacs, Special Education teacher and Leticia Burnside Special Education aide.

At Bowie Primary, resignations include: Kristin Brown, Campus Secretary; Ester Gall, Special Education Aide and Kimberly Littleton, Grade 1 teacher.

At Rowena Johnson, Music teacher Amber Harmon also resigned as did Renee Johnson, Grade 2 teacher at Travis Primary.

At Sulphur Springs Elementary resignations include - Karley Easley, Grade 4 teacher; Jill Sapaugh, Grade 5 teacher; Julie Silman, Instruct. Intervention. Jaci Sorley, Grade 5 teacher and Erick Perez Rivera, Instructional Aide.

At the Middle School - Lee Ann Frazier, Special Education teacher : Shelby Gammill, Grade 7 teacher; Jeff Harris, Grade 8 Teacher; Breanna Hodges, PE Teacher/Coach; Ashleigh Luke, Visual Arts Teacher; Tammy Pearson, Attendance Clerk; and Jonathan Stevenson, Technology Specialist.

At Sulphur Springs High School - Jennifer Bunch, English teacher; Derek Driver, Principal; Taylor Harden, Math teacher; Patti Laeding, English teacher; Kurt McCain, Math teacher/coach; Morgan Owens, Biology teacher; Joshua Peugh Special Education teacher; Melissa Peugh, English teacher; Bruce Silman, Geography teacher/coach; and Jason Stephenson, Special Education/Coach.

New personnel

Amelia Hasbrough, Innovative Learning Spec., administration and Jonathan Tingle, Technology Specialists, administration.

At Barbara Bush Primary - Jessica Grace,Grade 3 Teacher; Brittany Rice and Nina Smith, Special Education Aides.

At Bowie Primary - Linnie Akins, Campus Secretary; Emily Faircloth, Counselor; Constance Stieber, Title 1; and Cassie Wilson, Grade 3 teacher.

At Rowena Johnson Primar, Dolores Renee Smith, Title 1 Aide, and Heather Wantland is a Grade 1 Teacher at Travis Primary.

New at SSES - Martha Campos, Harlan Hill, Shelby Ladd Grade 4 teachers; Kaley Lyday, Grade 5 teacher; Heather Willey, Title 1 Aide.

At the middle school :Raygan Morris, Grade 6 teacher; Rebekah Newton, Grade 7 and Cody Rozell, PE teacher/coach.

At Sulphur Springs High School - Adriana Brena, Teacher/HG Soccer Coach; Brinklee Driver, Science Teacher; Andrew Dunn, Social Studies/Coach; Rebecca Huffman, Teacher/ Girls Soccer Coach; and Rebecca Medlock, English Teacher.

At Austin AC - Tamyla Hasbrouck, Secondary Teacher and Danielle Lopez, Teacher.

Personnel changes - Lyndsay Anderson went from being a Team Supervisor/LSSP to Special Program Dir/Spec. Prog.; Amanda Ridner was at Douglass ECLC and now is the Asst. Head Start Dir/ Acad. Spec.; Carissa Williams was a Behavior Interventionist at Bowie and now is Special Education Resource at Bush; Kodeann Crawford was a Grade 5 Special Education teacher at SSES and is a Math Intervention at Bowie; Kassandra Smith went from being a Grade 3 teacher Bowie to teaching Grade 1 at Bowie; Sherry Baugh was a Grade 4 teacher at SSES and now is at SSES as a Grade 4 DLE; Hannah Graves, went from being a Special Education Resource at SSHS to a Special Education Resource at SSES; Shara Roden was a Counselor at Bowie and now is a Counselor at SSES; Michelle Fuselier was a Special Education teacher at SSMS and now is a Special Programs teacher at the same campus Brynn Offutt went from being a Special Education Aide at SSMS to being a Grade 8 Teacher at SSMS; Karen Jasmer was a Special Education teacher at SSES and now is a Special Education teacher at SSHS; Amy Peters went from a Grade 7 co-teacher at SSMS to a Grade 8 Co-Teacher at SSMS; Stephanie Hughes went from secretary at SSES to Special Education Aide at Bush; Yesenia Mata was in Food Service at Bush and now is a Special Education Aide at Bush; and Kayla Emerine was a Title 1 Aide at Bowie and now is a Special Education Aide at Bowie.

In Public Form, the board recognized Joel Villarino, Valedictorian of the Class of 2022 and Dawson Carpenter, Salutatorian of the Class of 2022.

Public hearing was held on the Amended Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property from Hopkins Energy, LLC, Comptroller Application #1384.

Several individuals addressed the board on topic.

Several individuals addressed the board regarding disciplinary action of a SSHS student.

The Sulphur Springs Jazz band performed two songs.

Sasha Posey, Jeffrey Denton, and Gerald Grafton gave the Board an update on UIL Academic Competition for the year. State medalists were present at the meeting and recognized by the Board.

Sherry McGraw presented the Board with the budget calendar for 2022.

The Board was given the April Head Start Director’s Report, April Policy Council Meeting Minutes and April Head Start Financial Report as information only items.

In action items-along with routine matters, the following were approved:

All seven board members acknowledged “No Conflict of Interest” re: the Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property from Hopkins Energy, LLC, pursuant to Texas Tax Code 313.

Approve amended Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property and enter into an Amended Agreement for Limitation on Appraised Value of Property for School District Maintenance and Operations Taxes by and between Sulphur Springs ISD and Hopkins Energy, LLC.

Approve an application amendment fee, pursuant to Board Policy CCGB(LOCAL), with regards to Amendment to the Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property from Hopkins Energy, LLC.

Retaining Powell Law Group for Legal Services in Connection with an Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property, Texas Tax Code § 313, from Stetson Renewable Holdings, LLC (the “Applicant”)

All seven board members acknowledged “No Conflict of Interest” re: the Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property from Stetson Renewable Holdings, LLC, pursuant to Texas Tax Code 313.

Application for Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property from Stetson Renewable Holdings LLC, pursuant to Texas Tax Code 313; authorizing Superintendent of Schools to review the Application for completeness and submit the Application to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts; and authorizing the Superintendent of Schools to approve any request for extension of the deadline for Board action beyond the 150-day Board review period, as may be required.
