Both Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath high schools announced their respective top 10 students for the Class of 2024 last week. Commencement ceremonies for both schools is scheduled for May 29 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.
Rockwall’s top two graduates are valedictorian Marie Yeh and salutatorian Noah Whitehouse and Heath’s top two are valedictorian Austin Smart and salutatorian Ashley Fisher. The RHS graduation is slated for 1 p.m. on May 29, followed by RHHS at 7 p.m.
Rounding out the Class of 2024 Top 10 for Rockwall are Ashley Chiu, Kaley Cock, Sofia Keiser, Campbell Albers, Kaden Haack, Kyra Waterman, Lucy Rice and Rachel Phelps.The students and their families were celebrated during a luncheon hosted by principal Dane Steinberger, the high school administration team and counselors at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.
Rounding out the Class of 2024 Top 10 for Heath are Ryan Axum, Johnpaul Rodriguez, Lillian Chester, Anna Gent, Thomas Baumler, Max Fox, Jack Warren and Theodore Shisler. They were recognized for their classroom accomplishments at a luncheon hosted by principal Todd Bradford, the high school administration team and counselors at the Hidden Creek Event Venue.
School trustees, superintendent John Villarreal and other district leaders helped celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating seniors from both schools and each student was presented with a yard sign with their rank to proudly display at home.
Villarreal offered the seniors some words of encouragement.
“Enjoy the journey,” he said. “You will go through challenges. That’s OK. That’s how you learn.”
