Sharilynn Jordan
TYLER — Memorial services for Sharilynn Jordan, 61, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Tyler with Rev. Pike Wisner officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Jordan was a beautiful soul, devoted wife, friend, and mother who passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, in Tyler. She was born October 4, 1962, in Mineral Wells to Thomas Carney and Belva Hearn Carney. She was raised in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and went to Mount Pleasant High School, graduating in 1981. She attended Texas Tech University where she studied family relations and was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1984. She was a dedicated educator, and she had a long career focusing on children, beginning with child protective services and later as a teacher in the child development lab at Kilgore College. She also worked for LeTourneau University as an associate professor and college administrator in the education department. Her last position before she retired was a teacher for New Summerville ISD specializing in primary education. Not only did she love children and their education, but she loved her family and friends deeply. Sharilynn was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Belva Carney. She is survived by her loving family including her husband Bryan Jordan, Her sons Andrew Griffin and Brant Mills, and her two brothers Craig and Kerry Carney and their families. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to one of the following charities: American Heart Association, Christian United for Israel, Kilgore College Tutoring Labs, or directly to First Baptist Church Tyler.
