Delia M. Lyons served as a career educator in the DISD for more than 40 years. As a music teacher, academic instructor, resource teacher, instructional coach, reading specialist, and counselor; she made a significant impact on the lives of so many students. She initiated several programs to engage students beyond classroom learning. She also created programs to help identify students who needed special help and programs to provide incentives for positive student behavior. She received her Master’s Degree in counseling and a mid-management certificate from Prairie View A&M University, with honors. She is a 2024 inductee into the African American Education Archives and History Program Hall of Fame.
