EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Seven East Texas counties have been included in a disaster declaration issued by Gov. Greg Abbott Monday.

The counties in the flooding-related disaster declaration are Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton, Panola, Shelby and Tyler. These counties were impacted by the severe storms and flooding that began last week and which continue to affect homes, businesses, and the agriculture industry.

“The State of Texas continues working around-the-clock with Local officials to respond to severe storms and flooding and help all impacted Texans begin to rebuild and recover,” said Abbott.

The issuance of the disaster declaration ensures that all resources are available to those affected counties to support their recovery efforts.

Texans are urged to report damages to their homes or businesses through the iSTAT damage survey so state and local officials can determine if the state meets the requirements for additional federal assistance. Click here to go to the survey page.
