Blue state schools cutting honors classes in name of equality

The Democrat -led states continue their march of insanity that has begun in recent years, with their next target being educating children. States like California and Illinois, typically blue strongholds, are now seeing school district doing away with honors classes for students, in efforts that say to promote 'racial equity.'

It all fits beautifully into their agenda of sensitivity, and DEI initiatives. Jean Burk from College Prep Genius says this is nothing new, and their agenda train is right on schedule.

"They disguise it under equity...they are designed to create passive consumers, that are robots, who will buy, hear, say and do anything they want," she says. "Putting everyone on an equal playing field is exactly where they want you to be."

The Left's theory goes that starting everyone on equal footing gives more students the confidence and skills needed to enroll in honors and Advanced Placement courses later. The changes typically target Black and Latino students.

On the flip side too, if they are not eliminating the honors courses, they are just placing everyone in them from the jump, which is equally dangerous.

"It is just another trophy for participating at that point...not only are you taking away incentive and motivation, but you will have students just doing absolutely terrible," she says.

So far for California and Illinois, the success has been mixed in widening that advanced pool. Eventually too, this will all come back to smack them upside the head.

"If they are there because of merit...they are not going to graduate because they are not prepared, and if they do not, then your dropout rates increase," she says. "That is going to come back to haunt them."

But, the good news, is parents are beginning to see the light, and take their kids out of the propaganda machine that has become the public school system in America.

"Many are going to alternative schools and private schools," she says.

But for every action, there is a reaction, and that reaction will have a lasting, negative effect on public schools.

"This is going to leave public schools in a situation where they are left with unruly, undisciplined kids, who just want to get in, get their participation trophy, and get out," says Burk.

Here in Texas, school vouchers, otherwise known as school choice, was approved by the Senate last week. The idea would allow taxpayer money to go to parents so they can send their kids to private schools. That would ultimately give parents a freedom of choice. Burk notes this idea will help.

The bill however faces an uphill battle in the Texas House, as many rural Republicans say they do not have private schools in the rural areas, and it will hurt public schools. The House is expected to take up the idea on Monday.
