The Robinson family is mourning the loss of their youngest son, three-month-old Chap. The Santa Rita Elementary community has rallied around the family, as mom Meagan Robinson is a first-grade teacher at the school.

The Santa Rita Elementary community has rallied around first-grade teacher Meagan Robinson and her family this month after they lost their infant son on Oct. 4.

Principal Kendell Luedtke of Santa Rita Elementary sent an email to the families of the school, informing them that Robinson, along with her husband, Cole, and their two oldest children, Cash and Conley, were grieving the loss of their three-month-old son, Chap.

“As a campus we are collecting monetary donations for the family to put towards the services and reception,” Luedtke wrote in her email to families.

Within just a couple of days, the Santa Rita Elementary community raised $6,648.90, which covered catering, beverages and wait staff for a reception to honor the Robinsons’ son following his funeral services. Additionally, Lone Star Oaks, a wedding and event venue in Liberty Hill, provided its location free of charge for the Robinson family to host the reception.

“With all of our joint efforts, we were able to provide the Robinson family with a financially free reception to celebrate and honor the life of their precious baby boy,” Luedtke said in a follow up email to Santa Rita families. “A card was hand delivered to the Robinson family with the names of every community member that contributed.”

Meagan Robinson told The Independent that as her family has had time to reflect, they know that there was a divine plan set in place for them.

“God knew we were going to need a community to surround us and help us through our darkest days ahead,” she said. “Kendell, the SRE family, and [Superintendent Steve] Snell have been a blessing to us. Kendell immediately sprang into action with a giving heart asking how to help. She reached out to the community and together they provided a reception that allowed for our family and friends to gather after Chap’s services and celebrate. The owners of Lonestar Oaks gave their venue at no cost and served us.”

Meagan Robinson added that she and her family are humbled and grateful for every community member that rallied behind them.

“Liberty Hill and SRE are a special place, and we are exactly where God called us to be,” she said. “We will miss our little man, but we know he has brought so many people together and we will continue to live out his mission.”
