Federation education awards to be presented at Community Awards Night

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston will hold its Community Awards Night on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center. The event honors lay leaders, Jewish communal professionals and leaders in Jewish education in our community.

Education award winners were announced this week. They include Rabbi Enan Francis of Torah Day School, who will receive the Harold Reingold Yavneh Award for Jewish Educators; and Michelle Hadar of Beth Yeshurun Day School and Rachel Silton of The Emery/Weiner School and Congregation Brith Shalom, both of whom will receive the Irving l. Samuels Outstanding Teacher Awards for Judaic Studies.

Also presented that night will be the Federation’s Hans Mayer Jewish Communal Professional Award, the Ben Susholtz Young Leadership Award and the Barbara and Harold Falik Young Leadership Award. Nominations for these awards are open and will close on Wednesday, July 5. To nominate someone, go to houstonjewish.org/2023communityawards for criteria and electronic submissions.

Winners will be announced prior to the event. The Community Awards are open to the public. Additional details will be provided when winners are announced.
