Next Gen Stats show just how dominant Cowboys’ Micah Parsons is among his NFL peers

Parsons received high praise in Next Gen Stats’ top 10 disruptors list.

Micah Parsons did say he wanted to be an “impact player” and not just sack opposing quarterbacks.

Who’s to say he isn’t that impact player already?

NFL.com and Next Gen Stats suggested the Cowboys’ star defensive player is the top disruptor in the league in a top-10 list this week. Even San Francisco’s Nick Bosa trailed Parsons, who had 70 quarterback pressures and a QB pressure rate of 16.4%.

His pressures also caused five turnovers. Remember this one?

“I’m trying to take everyone up a level because I’m trying to take this D-line up another level,” Parsons said over the weekend. “That’s a part of growth.”

Parsons played all 17 games in 2022 but, down the stretch, was a race car in bad need of a pit stop. Increased attention from offenses and more reps at defensive end took a physical toll.

“It’s not so much that I don’t want to be with the guys,” said Parsons, who reported to the May 22 start of OTAs. “It’s more like how can I invest in myself? Personally, we’ve all got different mentors. One person can learn from a teacher at a high rate, and someone might learn from their class buddy a lot more. …

“I just want to create the best version of me. I’m trying to be great. I wanted to put some size on and the right weight. I’ve been eating right, doing everything right so I can add longevity in my career and my life.”

It’s clear Parsons is regarded highly among NFL experts. The fact that he wants to be even better probably says exactly what the Cowboys want to hear.
