Rackley recognized by City of Willow Springs

After thirty-nine years of service to the City of Willow Springs, wastewater supervisor Rob Rackley will retire at the end of this month. During the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen on May 18, Rackley was recognized by City Administrator Beverly Hicks. Hicks highlighted his service to the community and presented him with a plaque.
In new business, Hicks approached the aldermen about the city’s holdings in money market accounts. According to the draft minutes of the meeting, the accounts the city currently holds are making 1.25 percent interest. Having obtained quotes from all three banks in town at significantly higher interest rates, Hicks is expected to present suggestions on how to proceed in the next regular meeting. Her plan is to keep approximately $500,000 to $750,000 in liquidity and move approximately $1,000,000 into CDs.
In other business:

-All businesses operating with delinquent business licenses, except two, have complied with licensing procedures since the April meeting. City Clerk Heather Duddridge reported that the two non-compliant business owners have not been in contact with the clerk’s office, but they had not been in operation in the days leading up to the meeting. No action was taken.
-A closed session for the purposes of real estate and personnel matters took place from 5:58 p.m. to 6:20 p.m., during which no action was taken.
