SNYDER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A former Snyder HS substitute teacher accused of bringing child pornography to school has been sentenced to five years in prison for giving a false statement when being questioned about the allegations.
Malcolm Douglas Crawford pleaded guilty to the charge of Making a False Statement to a Federal Agent in May of 2017 and received his 57-month prison sentence in September of 2017. He was given 3 years of Supervised Release following his imprisonment and was ordered to pay a $100 fine.
In March of 2017, Federal agents received information that Crawford may have been viewing child pornography on his iPad while at Snyder High School serving as a substitute teacher, and during a subsequent interview, Crawford denied the allegations, saying he had never even brought an iPad to the school.
He then offered to get an iPad from his home, and the documents state he then went home, disposed of the iPad he’s accused of having at the school, then brought an investigator an old iPad.
When investigators showed Crawford a picture of him holding a different iPad, he still denied the allegations and stated the iPad in the picture “had been trashed several years ago”, even though investigators were able to determine he had disposed of it the previous day.
Because of Crawford’s actions, the iPad at the center of the child pornography investigation was never located.
