Extra police officers were at Americas High School on Friday after school officials received a report of a possible threat made against the campus, officials said.

In a safety notification message sent to parents Thursday night, Americas High School Principal Patricia Cuevas said officials received a report of a possible threat to the Socorro Independent School District campus at 12101 Pellicano Drive.

She added that information on the threat was shared with authorities and the individual identified in the report is being addressed.

In the notification, which also was posted on social media, Cuevas said the extra police would be at Americas on Friday as a precaution.

The person identified in the threat will not be on campus, Cuevas said in an update safety notification sent Friday morning.

"The school is safe and is continuing on our normal schedule," Cuevas said in an update sent to parents Friday.
