A student in Baldwin County is facing criminal charges after trying to be a social media star. It’s a TikTok challenge that’s making headlines all over the country.

It’s called the Devious Licks Challenge, and it encourages students to steal soap dispensers, COVID tests, and a lot of other things in between.

The student who’s facing criminal charges was caught on camera stealing a fire extinguisher at Robertsdale High School, that’s according to principal Joe Sharp.

Sharp is making it clear that he will not tolerate vandalism and he says these latest actions by students is not helping teachers with their curriculum. Sharp tells NBC 15 News that some of the teachers are feeling deflated because of the lack of trust in some of the classrooms.

Robertsdale High isn’t the only school in Baldwin county where the TikTok challenge is happening. Fairhope High, Central Baldwin Middle School and Spanish Fort High all are dealing with incidents.

Sharp says this challenge is a waste of time for teachers and administrators who are there to help children learn and grow, not to do investigations.
