The Board of Trustees of the Overton Independent School District met in a regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the district’s Administrative Annex.

The board held a public hearing for input from stakeholders concerning the ESSER III Federal Grant.

The consent items acted upon were:

1. Approval of minutes from the May 2021 regular meeting

2. Approval of the monthly financial reports for May 2021

3. Took no action on a tabled budget amendment from the May 2021 meeting

4. Approval of a budget amendment of $14,000 for transportation. The funds will come from unused salaries from the 2020-2021 school year

5. Approval of salary costs for 2021-2022. The district employees will see an average increase of 3.32 percent over 2020-2021.

6. Approval of a Board Resolution awarding a depository contract to Texas Bank and Trust 7. Approval of OISD’s investment policies

8. Approval of a two year depository contract with Texas Bank and Trust for July 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023

9. Approval of notice of intent to apply for ESSER III and ESSER II federal grants

10. Approval of a Notice of Candidate Filing Period for Trustee places 1, 2 and 3

11. Approval of designating hazardous bus routes as any that include crossing highways 323, 135 or 850 or that cross railroad tracks

12. Approval of a waiver from the Texas Education Agency for remote learning during the spring End of Course exams for Overton High School students

13. Approval of a waiver from the Texas Education Agency for remote learning during the spring STAAR tests for Overton Middle School students

14. Approval of the Purchasing Cooperative Interlocal Agreement with ESC 7

15. Approval of the Head Start Agreement with ESC 7

16. Approval of the OISD District Parental Engagement Policy

17. Approval of selling selected outside buildings at the Northeast Texas Career and Technology Center

18. Approval of engaging the architect firm of Goodwin, Lasiter, and Strong for the design of the welding/building trades building at NETCTEC to be completed by August 2022

19. Approval of amending the OISD local vendor list

20. Approval of opening a savings account for the Robert Young Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund.

2. Intent to apply for the ESSER III Federal Grant in the amount of $982,964 for the purpose of addressing learning loss, health, security and professional development due to the impact of COVID-19
