MIDLAND, Texas (Nexstar)- At its budget workshop Tuesday, Midland ISD trustees approved raising starting teacher pay as well as pay for nonexempt staff.

“MISD for many years now has strived to offer the most competitive teacher pay package in our region,” said Woodrow Bailey, Chief of Human Capital Management. “We work year-round to attract and maintain the best teaching talent, and compensation is a key part of bringing the best to MISD.”

The board also approved to increase the minimum hourly pay for support staff to $13 per hour. All staff will receive a 2% of midpoint raise.

“It is critically important that we take care of the hard-working individuals who drive our students safely to and from school, keep our buildings clean, and maintain our facilities,” School Board President Bryan Murry said.
