Burnet Consolidated ISD hired new principals for two of its three elementary schools during a special called meeting Monday, June 7, at the BCISD board room, Superintendent Keith McBurnett announced.

Former BCISD teacher Abby O’Hair was selected to take over the reins at Shady Grove Elementary as the newest principal. O’Hair has been serving as the assistant principal at Kline Whitis Elementary in Lampasas ISD, but she is no stranger to Burnet CISD parents and students.

O’Hair taught multiple grades in BCISD for about a decade and was event named Educator of the Year at multiple campuses before being promoted to elementary GT (Gifted & Talented) coordinator.

“We are excited to have Abby returning to Burnet CISD to serve as an elementary principal,” said McBurnett. “Her knowledge of the community will help in building a strong campus climate while also focusing on continuous improvement and quality learning. Her outstanding performance as an assistant principal has prepared her to take on the role of instructional leader for Shady Grove Elementary.”

Meanwhile, district newcomer Jessica McMullen has been named the principal of RJ Richey Elementary. McMullen has been a prinicpal for 10 years, most recently serving as principal of Ford Elementary in Georgetown ISD.

In addition to her administrative experience, McMullen taught multiple grade levels in both elementary and middle school, and served multiple times as department chair, instructional coach, and as an assistant principal.

“Jessica is an outstanding school leader,” said McBurnett. “We are excited that she and her family will be joining Burnet CISD. Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge in instructional leadership and building school culture having served as a district lead principal and a mentor principal to administrators in her prior work experience.”
