After reviewing over 30 application and interviewing six candidates, the North Hopkins ISD school board selected current secondary principal Brian Lowe as the lone finalist for superintendent during their Tuesday meeting.

"I am honored, thankful and grateful for this opportunity,” Lowe said. “North Hopkins ISD is an outstanding district, and I cannot wait to be able to serve the district as its superintendent."

Lowe has served as the secondary principal at NHISD since 2017 and has been in education for 24 years, teaching at Sonora ISD, Lake Dallas ISD, Lewisville ISD, Waskom ISD and Marshall ISD. On the administrative side, Lowe had served as assistant principal/student interventionist at Marshall, middle school principal at Alpine ISD and secondary principal most recently at Winona ISD.

“Our board is unified in continuing our tradition of excellence with high expectations of leadership for our school,” board president Sherry Smiddy said.

Lowe graduated from high school at Ballinger ISD and received his bachelors degree from Angelo State University. He earned his Masters of Education at University of Texas in Tyler and completed his superintendent certification in 2019 through Region 8’s Ratliff Academy. Lowe also served in the Air Force Reserve from 2004 to 2012.

Lowe has been heavily involved in supporting activities, stepping in as head coach of the girls basketball team this year, and he helped organize the school’s barbecue team, who placed well at their first competition last year.

Lowe and his wife Amber have been married for 13 years and have three children.
