TEXAS — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate MJ Hegar has said a few choice words on the campaign trail. On Thursday, incumbent Republican John Cornyn released an attack ad hitting Hegar over her cursing during the campaign.

Hegar told Capital Tonight anchor Karina Kling she’s not about to clean up her language, even in Washington.

“No, Karina, I don’t have plans to change one drop of who I am and my character and my principles that I’m fighting for,” she said during an interview Thursday.

Hegar also addressed her fundraising momentum, which continues to expand as the race nears its end.

According to the candidates' latest campaign finance reports, Hegar outraised Cornyn by nearly three to one in the first two weeks of October. She raised $3.7 million to his $1.3 million. Hegar also has more money to spend in the final few days with $6.9 million cash on hand to Cornyn’s $3.8 million.

Both have spent more than $5 million during the 14-day period.

During Thursday’s interview, Hegar also answered questions about her intraparty spat with state Sen. Royce West, her potential effect on down ballot candidates, and the Supreme Court confirmation fight.
