A 30-year-old teacher at Roy High School was arrested Wednesday in an FBI and Layton Police child exploitation sting.

Brady Allen communicated with a detective posing as a 13-year-old child starting in August, according to a press release from Layton City PD, which states:

Mr. Allen engaged in a highly sexual conversation, asked for nude images, arranged to meet the child for sex, and drove to the meeting location."

Allen drove to the arranged meeting location on Thursday, said Lt. Travis Lyman with Layton Police. The meeting location had been discussed previously, but it was a "surprise" that Allen actually showed up, Lyman said.

Caught off guard, police didn't have the resources to safely make an arrest at the time. They were able to confirm Allen's identity based on the car he drove to the meetup location, though.

On Wednesday, police went to Allen's home and arrested him, Lyman said.

Police state he admitted to communicating with the detective posing as the child, and to showing up to meet the child for sex.

Allen was booked into Davis County Jail for enticement of a minor and attempted exploitation of a minor.

An entry on Roy High School's website shows Allen teaches digital media as part of the visual arts department.

Police state administration at Roy High School were notified of the arrest.

(UPDATE: Oct. 22, 9:29 a.m.) -- Roy High School announced that Allen has been placed on administrative leave while the district conducts an internal investigation.

Weber School District spokesman Lane Findlay wrote that the district is aware of the arrest and, "It's my understanding it doesn't involve the school or any students."

Individuals are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Editor's note: A clarification was made to this report upon further information from Layton police. Adjustments were made to clarify that Allen was arrested at his home, not the meetup location arranged on Oct. 15.
