Harmony Grove High School has halted football activities after a coach tested positive for COVID-19, KATV content partner the Saline Courier reported.

Principal Chad Withers said the coach and his wife, who coaches the junior high basketball team, tested positive Saturday.

The coach removed his mask during a recent coaches meeting, according to Withers, and now the rest of the coaching staff has been tested for the virus.

Withers said players have not been tested. He said the coach who tested positive was not within 6 feet of any players without a mask.

Parents and players have been informed of the situation, Withers said.

The football team will is set to resume practice Tuesday.

The school is among several in Arkansas with a football program affected by the virus. Three players at Little Rock Catholic High School have tested positive. Little Rock Central High School suspended football workouts in mid-July after a player tested positive. Jonesboro High School reported in mid-June that a football player had been infected.

The state allowed high school football to resume no-contact drills with helmets this week. It aims to resume full-contact workouts as early as next week.
