The Great Khalid Foundation to give backpacks, school supplies to middle school students
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Great Khalid Foundation Back to School Program will be giving backpacks with school supplies to sixth graders at SSG Manuel R. Puentes Middle School on Aug. 11 during a drive-through event at the school.
Principal Monica Castro wrote a compelling essay about why her students would benefit from the backpack giveaway to earn the donation from The Great Khalid Foundation.
We are excited to be providing this opportunity to our sixth-graders to get them off on the right foot for this school year. I know the backpacks and supplies will be greatly appreciated by the students and parents,” Castro said. “I thank The Great Khalid Foundation for their generosity and support of our students here at Puentes Middle School and all students in Team SISD!
More than 300 Puentes Middle School sixth graders will receive the backpacks during a drive-through service at the school. Khalid will not be at the giveaway, but The Great Khalid Foundation representatives will present the backpacks and school supplies on his behalf.
