SAN ANTONIO – The Alamo Heights Education Association is urging district officials to rely on science and health experts when it comes to reopening schools.

Monday, the group made of faculty and staff with the district, organized a caravan. The caravan started at Olmos Basin Park Trailhead and made its way through key points within the district.

It told us it does not want in-person learning until the positivity rate drops to or below five percent for at least two weeks.

Until, it wants the district to remain virtual.

"There have been some voices in Alamo Heights that have desperately wanted their children back to face-to-face education, and we actually want to be back to face-to-face education desperately too, but we just want to urge them to follow the directive to the strictest and safest degree possible." Carly Leech, a bilingual teacher with AHISD, said.

The group says it wants decisions to be data driven and based on science, not opinions.
