About half of Georgetown ISD’s students said they plan to start school in the fall, according to district data presented in an Aug. 10 school board workshop.

Of 11,761 students currently enrolled, 9,720 responded. That broke down to 53% selecting on-campus learning and 47% selecting remote learning for at least the first nine weeks.

An additional 2,041 students are enrolled for the 2020-21 school year but did not select a preference on whether they plan to return to school for on-campus learning or not. Because of this, the district is assuming they will return for in-person classes in September and are making plans to accommodate them.

Of the total population including nonrespondents, the district anticipates 61% of students will return to campus in September.

The first day of remote learning is Aug. 20. The first day of optional in-person learning is Sept. 10. As for teacher scheduling, district officials said they hope to start sharing plans at the end of the week.
