Teague ISD has made their plans for the 2020-2021 school year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, including detailed plans to ensure student and staff safety.

The school year looks very similar to what families in the school district have grown accustomed to, with the majority of holidays unchanged.

Students and staff will face regular screening for COVID-19.

The plan will be constantly monitored, with the ability to change as necessary to help protect everyone from the pandemic.

Teague ISD has placed many rules into place for the safety and wellbeing of students who opt to continue face-to-face classes as opposed to the virtual learning options.

Mask

Facial Coverings and Mask will be encouraged for both students and staff members, including some situations that require the use of a mask.

Hallways, common areas, and during arrival and dismal are the top of the list for places everyone is encouraged to wear a mask.

Masks include non-medical grade disposable face masks, cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth), or full-face shields to protect eyes, nose and mouth.

Hygiene

There will be opportunities throughout the day to wash hands or use hand sanitizer for both staff and students.

This includes some pre-planned times during the school day that students will be required to wash hands or use hand sanitizer.

Hand washing stations or sanitizer will be available throughout the entire campus in classrooms, entry points, high use areas, and in the cafeteria.

Meals

Meals will be packaged in a ‘grab and go’ style to make pick-up and transportation easier.

There will be signage to remind students of proper social distancing, and staff will be available to enforce the signs.

Campuses have the option to offer meals in the cafeteria, or in an alternate location.

Microwaves will not be accessible for student use, and there will be no visitor lunches.

Library

Students must wash or sanitize their hands when entering or exiting the library.

Furniture will be rearranged and visual reminders used to help students remember to use social distancing while in the library.

Occupancy will be limited, and high touch services will receive frequent disinfecting.

Arrival

Entry points will be based on the method students arrive at the school, such as bus riders, parent drop off/walk to school, student driver, and so on.

Doors will be propped open for a no contact entry onto the campus, and staff will monitor the doors to protect against unauthorized entry into the building.

Protocols will be in place to help students stay socially distant while entering the building, along with sanitizing stations at entry points.

Students are expected to report to their first period class or other designated location upon entering the building.

Parents may not walk children to class.

Dismissal

Dismissal times may be staggered to keep the number of students in exit areas and hallways down to a minimum.

Sanitizing stations will be located at exit points, and students encouraged to use the sanitizer.

Parents picking their student up during the day must call ahead to allow the student to be sent and/or accompanied to the parents vehicle.

Transitions

Students and staff will be encouraged to use facial coverings in the hallway while changing classrooms, with students walking on the right side of the hallway.

Classrooms may have staggered releases to help keep the number of students down in the hallways at one time, and doors left open to allow no touch entry and exit.

Staff and signage will be used to reinforce social distancing while students change classes.

Miscellaneous

Restrooms will be monitored to keep the number of students using at once in accord with social distancing requirements.

Students will not be allowed to drink from water fountains, and are asked to bring home a reusable water bottle that they will take home daily to clean.

Meetings will be held virtually whenever possible, and when not possible they will employ social distancing measures.

Students should not share supplies when it is possible to avoid.

When group work is necessary, social distancing should be applied or facial coverings when social distancing is not an option.
