Board renews all contracts, approves shutdown pay

MILLER GROVE—The Miller Grove school board discussed teacher salaries during the COVID-19 shutdown, among other items of business at their March 23 regular meeting.

After opening at 6:02 p.m., the board unanimously approved their previous month’s meeting minutes. They also approved the payment of March bills, which superintendent Steve Johnson stated were “nothing out of the ordinary” and in fact were “going down, except for food,” due to the school being closed.

The board did not have an outstanding journal voucher for March. They agreed unanimously to file a missed school day waiver for COVID-19. The board also unanimously approved a school calendar for the 2020-2021 school year, which Johnson stated is “very similar to this year’s [2020] calendar.”

The board then entered into executive session from 6:32 p.m. to 7:54 p.m. to discuss employee pay during the shutdown and teacher contracts.

After emerging from executive session, the board unanimously approved to pay staff during the shutdown and renewed all teacher contracts. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
