Students and staff at Southside High School are mourning the death of a teacher who passed away this week.

Social studies teacher, Mr. William Carle, died at a hospital after collapsing in his classroom on Tuesday.

"He was always thoughtful of others. He always pushed others and everybody loved him. He was just that person that you always saw a happy face. You couldn't wait to get to his class because he always had stories to tell you," said Albert Terrazas, a former student.

Students held a short memorial service for Mr. Carle on Thursday at the school's courtyard.

"We gotta keep his memory alive. We all have shared memories, we have examples of the man who he was, all we can do now is just push forward," said Terrazas.

"We are saddened by Mr. Carle’s passing and our prayers go out to his loved ones, his students, and fellow teachers," said Superintendent of Schools Mr. Mark E. Eads.

Carle was in his 26th year of teaching at Southside, according to information posted on the district's website.
