Administrators at La Vega High School are taking precautions and increasing security after a threat was made against the school by an Instagram user.

Wednesday, the school's principal reassured parents by letting them know the Bellmead Police Department is aware of the threat.

The police department is "responding accordingly to the situation," said La Vega Principal Sandra Gibson.

"We will take all necessary precautions," said Gibson.

"There will be increased security and law enforcement at the high school."

Gibson urged parents to remind students about the consequences of making threats against schools.

"All threats will be taken seriously, investigated and dealt with appropriately," the principal said.
